Abstract The diversity of genus Colocasia belongs to the family Araceae and found that four species in Thailand. This genus is found in humid areas, brook, waterfront, swamp, canal and marsh. According to study of the genus Colocasia in the Northeast by a survey and collect sample. Three species of this genus are found in the Northeast which is Taro and Bon (C. esculenta (L.) Schott), C. fallax Schott and Toon (C. gigantean (Blume) Hook.f). Only C. menglaensis J.T.Yin, H.Li&Z.F.Xu is not found the Northeast. It also found that C. esculenta (L.) Schott and C. gigantean (Blume) Hook.f a traditional food plants in the Northeast. An artificial key to species, ecological data, flowering period, traditional uses data are provided in this study.
