Abstract | An MHD unsteady start-up (i.e. motion from rest) boundary layer flow past a moving vertical plate in a saturatedporous medium with variable surface temperature and concentration is studied. The convective contributions to flow and heattransfer process are neglected due to slow motion. These render the governing equations linear, paving the way for solution byLaplace Transform. The novelty of this study is laid down as (i) Embedding the vertical plate in a saturated uniformly porousmedium. (ii) Considering the thermal radiation in case of large temperature gradient. Some important findings of the study are:The presence of a porous matrix opposes the decelerating effect of resistive electromotive force as well as viscous drag of theboundary surface. The hiking of the velocity profiles near the plate may be attributed to overriding the effect of buoyancy forceson viscous drag. |
