Abstract | A modern controller was designed by using the mathematical model of a multizone thermal plate system. Animportant requirement for this type of controller is that it must be able to keep the temperature set-point of each thermal zone. The mathematical model used in the design was determined through a system identification process. The results showed thatwhen the operating condition is changed, the performance of the controller may be reduced as a result of the system parameteruncertainties. This paper proposes a weighting technique of combining the robust model predictive controller for each operatingcondition into a single robust multi-model predictive control. Simulation and experimental results showed that the proposedmethod performed better than the conventional multi-model predictive control in rise time of transient response, when used in asystem designed to work over a wide range of operating conditions. |
