Abstract Oil and gas (O&G) supply chain management faces various challenges owing to its complexity and inflexibility mainly because of the rigid procurement process, long lead-time, complex multi-modal transportation and distribution involved. The same challenges are equally true for Pakistan's O&G industry. Although in the developing stage, the O&G supply chain has gained some level of maturity. As such, this study appraises the maturity level of supply chain and operation management practices of the Pakistan oil and gas industry using the Supply Chain Maturity Assessment Test (SCMAT). To carry out the assessment, a quantitative survey was conducted with 13 companies in the O&G industry of Pakistan. From the responses regarding the variables already defined in the SCMAT, companies were assessed to develop their maturity points and maturity levels. It is concluded that a higher score on variables of maturity demonstrates a higher level of maturity that in turn represents a more open and empowered management style.
