Abstract Critically ill patients often face with daily energy insufficiency and result in malnutrition, which of is associated with an increase in complications and mortality. Nutritional support is an important aspect in the care of critically ill patients in order to maintain nutritional status, reduce complications, and promotes good clinical results. Nurses care for critically ill patients are the key role for nutritional support. They must work co ordinately with doctors and dietitians to promote the best care for patients. The goal of nutritional support is to keep adequate energy for the body expenditure, minimize complications, and promote faster recovery. Nurses who take care of critical illness must have extensive knowledge on nutritional support, including indications, prevention, and how to dealing with complications.
