| Abstract | Pain in the labour period is a pain that arises from the natural transformation process that has mechanisms and related factors, both from the inside and outside of the birth, even if the pain in the birth stage is a natural mechanism. Which every child must face, but if unable to handle the pain properly, it affects both the body, the mind, the emotion and the baby. The perception of the pain of each person is different. Classified as physical tactics, mental strategies, mental strategies, spirituality and cognitive strategies. This article aims to explain the mechanism of first stage of childbirth. Factors affecting pain in first stage of childbirth, strategies for coping with pain and roles of midwifery. |
