| Abstract | Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used to study genetic relationship among 28 samples of Saccharum spontaneum and their hybrids. Forty-seven random primerswere screened and 20 primers are able to amplify DNA fragments. Five primers which gave clear RAPD banding patternwere selected and analyzed all species.The value of Jaccard similarity coefficient ranged from 0.36-0.91. A dendrogram constructed by UPGMA clustering method was revealed three major clusters. The mean genetic similarity calculated was 49 percentages. The lowest genetic similarity was found between genotypes B41-227 and Thai (similarity = 14.8%). RAPD fingerprints help breeders to evaluate and improve the new genetically sugarcane |
