| Abstract | Aim of this study was to determine the effect of spacing and number of plants perhill on yield and yield component of edible purple waxy corn. The experiment was in the3x3 split plot in randomized complete block design. The main plot was plant spacing (15,25 and 35 cm) while three plant number per hill (1, alternate between 1 and 2, and 2plants / hill) was described as subplot. A field experiment was conducted at Roi-etAgricultural Research and Development Centre, Roi-et Province in dry season 2014/2015.Weight per each and yield of unhusked ear, husked ear, husk, silk, shank, kernel, cob andstalk were recorded. The results showed that the plant spacing at 35 cm with one plantper hill (5,714 plants/rai) had the highest weight per all parts. Plant population at 26,667plants/rai (plant spacing 15 cm and 2 plants per hill) produced the maximum yield. Therefore, the most suitable population for farmer was the plant spacing at 35 cm withone plant per hill which had the maximum yield. |
