Abstract The effect of organic chemical and bio-fertilizer on maize production were studied at Khon Kaen farmer's field in Wang Saphung soil series (fine, mized, active, isohyperthermic Typic Haplustalfs) in 2005. The experiment was designed as RCB with 3 replications and 8 treatments namely : (1) control (0-0-0), (2) 7.5-4-4 kg/rai of N-P2O5 -K2O) (3) organic fertilizer 1200 kg/rai, (4) bio-fertilizer (PGPR1), (5) 7.5-44 kg/rai of N-P2O 5 -K2O + PGPR1, (6) 2-2.6-0 kg/rai of N-P2O5 -K2O + organic fertilizer 600 kg/rai, (7) 2-2.6-0 kg/rai of N-P2O5-K2O + organic fertilizer 600 kg/rai, + PGPR1, and (8) 3.2-4-0 kg/rai of N-P2O5 -L2O (farmer pratices). Maize (var Nakhon Sawan 2) was grown at a spacing of 75x25 cm, 1 plant/hill with a plot size of 4.5x5 m and harvested area of 3x4 m. Organic fertilizer (C/N 12.4, O.M 17.8 %, pH 9.1 T -N 0.84 %., P2O5 0.67 % K2O 2.38 % EC (1:10) 3.4 dS/m) was broadcasted and in the soil prior to planting. Basal chemical fertilizer of 1/2 N+PK was applied underneath of the seed before planting and another 1/2 N was sidedressed at the age 30 days after emergence. Bio-fertilizer (PGPR1) was inoculated to seed prior to planting. Results revealed that organic chemical and bio-fertilizer significantly increased maize growth and yield compared with control. However, it was not significantly different from all data collected among fertilizer treatments. The integrated fertilizer treatment of 2-2.6-0 kg/rai of N-P2O5 -K2O + organic fertilizer 600 kg/rai + PGPR1 produced the highest yield of 1,061 kg/rai. For the total nutrient uptake (stem leaf pod-sheath cob and seed) results showed that the uptake of nitrogen phosporus and potassium were 17.3 , 9.5 and 14.6 kg/rai of N. P and K respectively.
