| Abstract | Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of metabolic disorders that increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, which includestype 2 diabetes, elevated blood pressure, and atherogenic dyslipidemia. Studies have shown that oxidative stress plays an important role in the etiology of cardiovascular diseases, as well as diabetes and its complications.Antioxidants provide protection from these chronic diseases. Antioxidants can be obtained from fruits, and blueberries have the highest antioxidant activity compared to other fruits. The health benefits of blueberries have been widely explored. The effects of blueberries on metabolic syndrome are reviewed. |
