| Abstract | This research aimed to develop the teaching practices of the researchers as the lecturers about using project-based teaching for increasing pre-service science teachers' positive attitude towards science. We developed and implemented 9 lesson plans focusing on project-based learning in a 15-week Science Project course for 17 pre-service science teachers in the first semester of academic year 2013. Multiple data gathering techniques were used: informal interviews, document analysis such as journal entries and teacher logs. The researchers analyzed qualitative analyzing data with content analysis. The findings showed that best practices of using project-based teaching for developing their attitude towards science are 1) Providing example of science project linked to many disciplines; 2) role playing to be scientist to solve the community problems; 3) connecting their learning experience about science project to the real world; and 4) providing friendly and safely discussion about science project. These findings were considered in terms of further designing course activities. |
