| Abstract | This study is devoted to the reuse of waste motors modified to serve as wind turbine generators. The generator is designed to be a high performance permanent magnet synchronous wind generator ( PSWGs) . The 10kW waste motor was modified to a 6kW generator by changing the rotor to a neodymium magnet with 12 poles and reforming the SWG#18 copper coils at the stator. The results indicated high induced voltage and low harmonic distortion, as well as high generator efficiency. The output power of this generator is 4kW at a wind speed of 12 m/s. S809 aerofoil blades were used for this system and the design incorporated an electrical post used for the tower. Therefore, as a waste motor and electrical post are used, the device can be fabricated at a low cost to produce a wind turbines for low speed winds suitable for southern Thailand. |
