| Abstract | Domestic violence has caused the significant impacts of being and having happiness in a family. This violence also has the effects on society. Domestic violence, therefore, a very important problem, especially in Phattalung where the author has been working. This study has three main objectives. First, it aims to survey and analyze for the existence and the causes of domestic violence. Second, it aims to survey and analyze the characteristics of domestic violence, and last, this study aims to seek the proper process and solution when domestic violence occurs on those areas. This study was conducted by using the mixed method. It started from collecting the questionnaire, followed by analyzing with related laws. The study reveals that, first, domestic violence has occurred more than half to the families living on the studied areas which there are blaming, assault, battery and forcing to do something unwillingly. Second, it shows that the victims mostly are wives and husbands facing with domestic violence eighteen times per year in average. Third, the first three causes of exercising domestic violence are consuming alcohol and drugs, stressness on work and lack of love and understanding among family members. Fourth, when domestic violence occurs the victims and the witnesses have decided not to act or response in order to solve this violence, some samples, however, have decided to inform the problem to the village headmen and the subdistrict headmen. Fifth, the majority considers that the domestic violence protecting means should be exercised by promoting the understanding among family members, enforcing laws against drugs, and having supporting family activities in the communities. Last, the majority does not perceive about the process under the Domestic Violence Victim Protection Act B.E.2550.According to the study, the author suggest that there should be further study on the proper form of mediation or the proper form of using restorative justice. The study should, moreover, include its readiness. |
