| Abstract | The objectives of this article are to present the sampling strategies and determining an adequate sample size in qualitative research. Qualitative research sample selection is highly flexible, using a combination of science and art. Therefore, if a researcher lacks clear guidelines regarding principles for selection of a sample, it might result in confusion of that researcher and may also affect the replication of the study. In this article, we present 16 sampling strategies as well as how to determine the sample size for qualitative research, which draws upon the concept of Miles and Huberman [1] and Nastasi and Schensul [2] respectively. In addition, suggestions for applying these methods to further study are presented |
