Abstract This article aims to provide an extensive reviewof web-based instruction (WBI), implemented withinthe realm of English language teaching (ELT). WBI isa teaching method that utilizes computer technologyto promote learning experiences by leveraging theinternet and web applications. It is suggested thateducators carefully consider the related elements ofage, affiliation, internet access, technological skills,educational needs, culture, interests, motivation andexpectation when implementing WBI. In order for thismodel to be successfully implemented, educators canadhere to the following seven stages of the WBIframework: construct and objective identification,prior knowledge testing, learning objectivesmodification, learning experiences development,assessment methods identification, learningexperiences evaluation, and learning outcomesreflection. Implementing WBI yields many benefits that traditional classroom teaching lacks. Theseinclude distance learning capability, convenientvirtual interactive learning features, reduction of timeconstraints, and elimination of cultural andpersonality type obstacles. When evaluating theeffectiveness of WBI, either the formative or thesummative technique may be used. This article alsoprovides detailed insights into WBI implementationthat educators can adopt to promote more effectivelanguage instruction than what traditional classroomteaching offers.
