Abstract During the process of translation, students needto learn how to detect and correct errors in theirtranslation drafts, and collaboration among themselvesis one possible way to do this. As Pym (2003) hasexplained, translation is a process of problem-solving;translators must be able to decide which choices aremore or less appropriate for the specified purpose oftranslation. Therefore, it is necessary for the teacher tocreate a learning environment that facilitates thestudents, not only to learn how to solve the problems, but also to be exposed to other possible solutions ofthose problems. This paper aims to give acomprehensive account of peer editing in collaborativetranslation classrooms for English as a foreignlanguage (EFL) learners. The participants of this studywere 21 EFL undergraduate students who took a business translation course. Qualitative data werecollected from the students' translation drafts, diaries, and interviews, in order to explore the effects of peerediting on the students' abilities to deal withtranslation difficulties. The results revealed that peerediting enhanced the quality of the students'translations and enabled the students to detect errorsand revise their translations. More importantly, peerediting was a social interaction that effectively engagedthe students to work collaboratively with each other.
