Abstract | The reviewed book Metacognitive Translator Training: Focus on Personal Resources (Pietrzak 2022) highlights the importance of metacognition in the translation process and translation learning process, which is at the core of translator training when it is confronted with the challenges brought by emerging AI technologies. It may be the first monograph to systematically address metacognition in translator training, benefiting researchers in translation studies by paving the way for future investigations concerning the conceptual frameworks, mechanisms, and effects of metacognition in translation and its learning processes. It also proposes a model of metacognitive support, which is a practical scaffold for translator trainers. It is hoped that the book can arouse researchers’ and translator trainers’ attention to metacognition in the processes of translation and its learning, which has been less studied in translator education. |
