| Abstract | In this work, (1-x)BCZT-(x)MnO2 ceramics where x = 0, 0.005, 0.010, and 0.015 were fabricated by a solid state sintering technique. The effects of Mn addition on the sintering behavior of BCZT-based ceramics sintered at 1,300 oC and 1,400 oC were investigated. In the results, we found that the adding of Mn dopants induced oxygen vacancy, which led to facility of grain growth and ion diffusion of the doped ceramics during the sintering process. This enhancement caused significantly increase of bulk and relative densities of the Mn-doped ceramics sintered at 1,300 oC. Also, the dense ceramics could be obtained at such temperature. In case of the sintering at 1,400 oC, the compositional losing induced the porous-like microstructure of the Mn-doped ceramics. The results here indicated that the addition of Mn ions produced the dense ceramic of BCZT-based materials at low temperature, which could be sintering aids for other ceramics requiring high sintering temperature |
