| Abstract | The issue of elderly care has gained significant attention due to demographic changes that indicate a shift toward an aging society. This is particularly true in Thailand, where the number of elderly people continues to rise. As of June 30, 2024, the elderly population in Thailand accounted for 20.70% of the total population. It is projected that by 2030, the proportion of elderly individuals will reach 28%. This demographic shift highlights the need for preparedness in managing and addressing issues related to the elderly. In some areas, access to public health services for the elderly remains limited, due to insufficient medical personnel and inadequate resource allocation for elderly care.Therefore, it is essential to explore comprehensive elderly care solutions. One possible approach is community-based care, such as the "Time Bank" concept, which involves studying ways to care for the elderly to enhance their quality of life and community participation. This tool fosters cooperation within the community, helping to reduce feelings of isolation among the elderly and making them feel more integrated into the community. Studies have shown that community involvement in elderly care strengthens solidarity and relationships, while promoting regular health and mental care. This leads to improved quality of life for the elderly and enhances sustainability. The Time Bank creates a care system that can be continuously expanded and developed without relying on a single source of support. It is a model that can be adapted in various areas to promote efficient and sustainable elderly healthcare. |
