| Abstract | Currently, waste materials generated from Asian sea bass processing, including carcass residues and washing wastewater, are discharged into lakes, resulting in adverse environmental impacts. In response, these waste materials were utilized to produce fermented sea bass liquid. This study aimed to study the properties, and plant nutrition for production of fermented sea bass liquid to plant growth promoting. Waste materials from sea bass processing, namely viscera, fins, scales, and wastewater from washing sea bass carcasses, were fermented in plastic containers for 60 days. The resulting fermented liquid was subsequently analyzed for chemical properties. The results revealed that the fermented sea bass liquid exhibited high electrical conductivity, slight acidity, contained essential plant nutrients, and was rich in amino acids. The fermented liquid was diluted with water at ratios of 0, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200-fold and applied to watering spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) cultivated in soil. The findings demonstrated that water spinach treated with fermented sea bass liquid at dilution rates of 50–100-fold promoted growth of Chinese water spinach. Moreover, the concentration of plant nutrients, particularly nitrogen and potassium in the plant was higher than in the control treatment. While, plant height and fresh biomass weight were not significantly different. Furthermore, the valorization of sea bass processing waste into fermented liquid fertilizer contributes to sustainable waste management and reduces environmental problems associated with the improper disposal of fish-processing residues into aquatic ecosystems. |
