| Abstract | This study aimed to compare the carbon sequestration potential among six plant materials planted in the Lad Krathing plantation, Sanam Chai Khet District, Chachoengsao Province. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design (RCBD). The data were collected on survival rate, tree height, and diameter at breast height (DBH). Carbon content was analyzed, and estimates of biomass in different tree components were used to calculate carbon sequestration in the aboveground biomass at 2.5 years old. The results showed that carbon sequestration potential was more strongly influenced by total biomass than by the concentration of carbon content in the wood. The acacia hybrid AH2 (A. mangium × A. auriculiformis) exhibited the highest growth, biomass accumulation, and aboveground carbon sequestration potential, storing 33.80 tC/ha, equivalent to 124.05 tCO2/ha, which was 19 times greater than that of the Eucalyptus hybrid EU2 (E. camaldulensis × E. urophylla), the lowest performer, within only 2.5 years. The findings also indicate that carbon sequestration potential and economic viability are not always directly aligned, as both are influenced by utilization patterns and the market value of wood products. Therefore, the acacia hybrid AH2 is identified as a high-potential species suitable for plantation establishment in the Lad Krathing plantation under a carbon-oriented management objective, providing policy-relevant information to support economic forest plantation development and national-level carbon management strategies. |
