| Abstract | Currently, cattle and buffalo farmers are facing the problem of a lack of roughage. Thus, we observe the utilization of agricultural waste as a source of roughage, especially dried corn stover fermented with fibrolytic enzymes and Lactobacillus casei TH14 can increase the nutrition of dried corn stover. This can help reduce animal feed costs. Therefore, this experiment aimed to study the effect of using dry corn stalks fermented with fiber-digesting enzyme and Lactobacillus casei TH14 microorganisms on the utilization of nutrients and the fermentation process in the rumen in vitro. A completely randomized controlled trial (CRD) was conducted, dividing the experimental groups into 9 groups. The experimental groups were fed with a complete mixed diet (TMR) with a ratio of concentrate to roughage of 40:60. The fermented corn stover were used instead of rice straw in the ratios of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60%, respectively. It was found that the in vitro dry matter degradability (IVDMD) at 24 h showed an increase in digestibility of 65.63% (P<0.001). The in vitro organic matter degradability (IVOMD) at 24 h showed an increase in digestibility of 66.70% (P<0.001). The results of this experiment indicated that corn stover fermented can effectively replace rice straw and has potential as a roughage source in ruminant feeding systems. |
