| Abstract | The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships of professional skepticism, personality characteristics and anticipatory socialization of the fourth-year accounting students. The results show that overall professional skepticism has a positive relationship with extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness personality characteristics while neuroticism and openness to experience personalities show low relationships with the overall professional skepticism. Moreover, all personality characteristics have no positive relationships with the anticipatory socialization of the accounting profession except the conscientiousness personality. The overall professional skepticism is not related to the professional socialization. Results of this study can be used as a guild line to recruit certain types of students into the auditing profession. Moreover, lecturers and counselors can also use the results to provide professional advisory to students in order to help them to succeed in their career path. |
