| Abstract | วันที่ 29 ตุลาคม พ.ศ.2560 คือวันถวายพระเพลิงพระบรมศพพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช กษัตริย์รัชกาลที่ 9 แห่งราชวงศ์จักรี ในวันนั้น บริษัทชั้นนำของภาคธุรกิจไทยได้ร่วมใจกันปิดกิจการของตนเป็นการชั่วคราวเพื่อถวายความอาลัยแด่พระองค์ บทความชิ้นนี้ศึกษาปรากฏการณ์ดังกล่าวและเสนอว่า นี่คือปรากฏการณ์ที่ดูจะขัดแย้งกับหลักการพื้นฐานของระบบทุนนิยม เนื่องจากมันได้นำไปสู่การหยุดชะงักของการเคลื่อนไหวของทุน การชะลอการสะสมทุนการลดมูลค่าของสินค้า และการสูญเสียรายได้ของบริษัทเหล่านั้น บทความยังเสนออีกว่า ปรากฏการณ์ดังกล่าวเป็นเรื่องที่เข้าใจได้ หากเราพิจารณาไปที่ความสัมพันธ์อันแนบแน่นและยาวนานระหว่าง ทุน นายทุน และสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ และบทบาทของพระราชวังในการสนับสนุนและอุปถัมภ์การพัฒนาระบบทุนนิยมในราชอาญาจักรไทย หากมองในแง่นี้ แม้ว่าการปิดกิจการของภาคธุรกิจในวันถวายพระเพลิงจะนำมาสู่ผลเสียทางเศรษฐกิจต่อนายทุนชั้นนำของประเทศ การกระทำดังกล่าวก็เป็นไปในลักษณะชั่วคราวแต่เพียงเท่านั้น แท้จริงแล้ว มันเป็นการแสดงออกเชิงสัญลักษณ์ที่ชี้ให้เห็นถึงความแน่นแฟ้น ความเป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวกัน และความต่อเนื่องในความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถาบันกษัตริย์กับชนชั้นนายทุน ซึ่งเป็นความสัมพันธ์ที่จะเอื้อประโยชน์ให้กับคนกลุ่มหลังในระยะยาวOctober 29, 2017 was the day that King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the ninth monarch of the Chakri dynasty, was cremated. On that day, Thai leading corporations of the business sector temporarily closed their businesses in order to offer their condolences to the late king. This article examines that phenomenon and reveals that it apparently contradicts the principles of capitalism, as it led to the suspension of capital's movement, the delay of capital accumulation, the devaluation of commodities, and the loss of profit among those companies. That phenomenon, this article argues further, is understandable if we consider the close and long relationship among capital, capitalists, and the monarchy, and the role of the palace in supporting and patronizing capitalist development in the kingdom. In this regard, even though the business shutdown on the royal cremation day caused the loss of economic gains among the nation's elite capitalists, it happened only temporarily. In fact, it is the symbolic act that reveals the close, solidified, and continued relationship between the monarchy and the capitalist class, the relationship that will benefit the latter in the long run. |
