Abstract The Purpose of this research are : 1) Study The demand for self-improvement of academic staff at the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University 2) Study the problems concerning self-improvement of academic staff at the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University 3) Study to solve the problem The demand for self-improvement of academic staff at the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University. This Research is qualitative research and quantitative. The research tools consisted of the questionnaires and focus group discussion. Statistics used analyze content in qualitative and used were mean, standard deviation in quantitative. The samples included 36 academic members of staff teachers at the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University. Ten of these are studying for a Ph.D. and 26 of these are working for the university. From the analysis of the demand for self-improvement of academic staff at the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University, five sections were established which consist of Teaching Development, Further Education, Research Support, Conference Support and Presentation, and Academic Positions. The study shows that: (1) For the demand for self-improvement, the staff had a high demand for Research Support (x̄ =4.11, S.D.=0.79) by demanding the department to support production and distribution of academic work 2) The problems concerning self-improvement of academic staff are: the amount of teaching workload; the complexity of other work which is not included in teaching workload; the budget for self-improvement; production and distribution of academic work are not motivating; and, an insufficient budget for international publications. From analyze content qualitative, academic staff demand for self-improvement all aspects but have problem concerning the amount of workload, teaching, and other, as assigned by agencies. Further education, is anxious in my own capacity and expenses. Academic Position is demand Mentoring system. The results of this study can be used as guidelines to adjust and develop the policy according to the problems of academic staff.
