| Abstract | Advances in molecular biological intervention and genetic engineering developnew approaches in dissecting molecular aspects of diseases and possibly in genetherapy. In the field of nephrology, there is growing research in gene transfer technologyin identifying pathophysiology and gene therapy of renal diseases. The benefit of genetherapy is in the groups of renal diseases that have no appropriate treatments or thepresent treatments are not satisfied such as hereditary diseases, malignancy, progressivesclerotic renal diseases, and transplant rejection.
