| Abstract | Brachial plexus is peripheral nerves distributing to discrete regions of the upper limbs and providing a complete assortment of muscular, sensory , and sympathetic fibers to the region innervated. For the upper limbs, the large brachial plexus allows the mingling of nerve fibers from the ventral rami of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth cervical nerves with the greater part of that of the first thoracic nerve. The brachial plexus does not originate in the axilla , and only part of it s pattern of regrouping of nerve bundles is apparent in this region. The considerable axillary (infraclavicular) part of the brachial plexus necessitates, however, its complete description, so that the functional sighificance of its branches may be understood. |
