Abstract The primary objective of proactive healthcare is to make the community environment free from diseaseand people have good health. One mechanism is to increase the number of community volunteers with basic knowledge and efficient skills in public health, in order to conducting the communication and promoting the correct well-being of people in the community. However, traditional on-site training is resource-intensive and limited by the COVID-19 pandemic. To accomplish the goal, gamification is proposed as a means to educate volunteers about endemic diseases and develop their decision-making skills for disease prevention. Starting from the game of Leptospirosis and Melioidosis, the experimental trials showed that individuals without prior knowledge could achieve an knowledge as 83.8%, and the prototype game received a high user satisfaction rating, scoring 4from 5. In the future, the game can be used as a screening tool for assessing volunteer competency, ensuring sufficient volunteers for proactive disease surveillance in critical areas.
