Abstract The objectives of this study were to develop a low-cost smart CCTV (closedcircuit television) system with Raspberry Pi and to compare the efficiency in copying video filesthrough powerline between NFS (network file system) and FTP (file transfer protocol). In theexperiment, the researcher recorded and saved video files for 48 days (The video files withdifferent lengths of 1,2,4, and 6 minutes were all recorded for 12 days). The video files had animage resolution of 1,920 ? 1,080 pixels. A CCTV camera was installed in the researcher's officeon the 1st floor of the Language and Computer Center building, Roi Et Rajabhat University. At23.56 each day, the system uploaded the video files to the Raspberry Pi boards (server) andrecorded the statistics. It was found that the whole system was practical. Warning messagescould be sent via line notify when both Raspberry Pi boards could not communicate. From theefficiency measurement, it was found that NFS was more efficient in copying the files viapowerline network than FTP. The larger the files, the bigger difference in copying time.
