| Abstract | This article aims to explore the relationship between the humanities and technology in the contemporary world, where digital technology has become an integral part of human existence, society, and the environment. Drawing on a synthesis of research conducted under the project "Reflecting on Digital Lifestyles: From Deep Understanding to Digital Competency," the article argues that the power of the humanities in the digital age lies in emphasizing the inseparable relationship between humans and technology. It further posits that the humanities and technology can, in fact, complement and support one another in three meaningful ways: (1) humanities research can make use of digital data and technologies to explain the nature of humanity and society in the digital age; (2) humanities perspectives can offer deep insights into the human dimensions embedded within digital technologies; and (3) the sustainable development of human capital through education must be grounded in the integration of both dimensions mentioned above, so that learners are enabled to cultivate critical awareness and develop critical thinking skills about the human-technology relationship. This in turn will ultimately contribute to the development of a high-quality digital society. |
