| Abstract | Background: Pre-treatment dosimetric verification for patient specific quality assurance has become an essential part of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).Objectives: To evaluate dosimetry characteristics and gamma passing rate of ArcCHECK for fixed gantry IMRT treatment planning.Materials and methods: ArcCHECK dosimetry characteristics evaluation includes dose linearity, short term reproducibility, and field size dependence. In this study, 20 head and neck cancer treatment plans and gamma index with 3%/3 mm and 10% threshold criteria were evaluated. Results: The study showed that diode detectors of ArcCHECK have an excellent dose linearly response with a linear regression coefficient of 1 (R2=1.0) and a short term reproducibility standard deviation ?0.04%. Field size dependent responses of diodes was identical to the response of ionization chamber. For KonRad treatment planning verification by ArcCHECK, average gamma passing rates for all 20 fixed gantry IMRT plans was 97.40% and calculated tolerance level was 94.77%.Conclusion: ArcCHECK has good dosimetric characteristics and good efficiency for fixed gantry IMRT treatment planning verification. |
