| Abstract | This study investigated the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Nigerian construction sector for two different political regimes from the year 1984 to 2017. An ex-post facto research design was used to establish the relationship of FDI inflow during the two regimes. Time series archival data for the study was sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria. Microsoft? Excel was employed to establish the trend analysis and charts showing FDI inflow into the construction sector. The study data were analysed with the use of regression technique. The study found that the democratic era encourages the significant inflow of FDI into construction sector than the military era. The study recommends that for greater FDI inflow into the construction sector, the Nigerian Government should continue to embrace democracy; and address the anti-democratic variables that have led to "dictatorship democracy", security encumbrance among others. These are identified threats to FDI inflow. |
