| Abstract | On June 16, 2022, the Ministry of Public Health issued a proclamation regarding the control of medicinal herbs in the Royal Gazette, Volume 139. The controlled herbs are those with educational or research value, or economic significance. Cannabis can be utilized for educational or research purposes, and its economic importance has been recognized. The decision to unlock cannabis was made due to the lack of clear legal control, leading to unintended widespread consequences. The resulting issues have prompted criticism of the government for hastily unlocking cannabis without clear regulations. This has led the medical industry and the public to call for the government to swiftly regulate the consumption of cannabis and hemp. Objective: This research aims to examine stakeholders attitudes in Nong Bua Lamphu Province towards the government s cannabis and hemp deregulation policy. It focuses on the medical, public health, and economic aspects. The findings will contribute to knowledge development in medicine, public health, and economics. They will also guide research, product development, strategic planning, and regulatory formulation by relevant. Methods: This study employed a qualitative research approach. In-depth interviews were conducted with primary data providers were divided into four groups, with a total of 40 individuals interviewed. Results: Research findings indicate that stakeholders in Nong Bua Lamphu province have a positive attitude towards liberal cannabis policies. Firstly, in the medical field, out of 40 main informants, constituting 100%, hold a positive attitude due to the belief in the medical benefits of cannabis, which can be used to treat various diseases under medical supervision. Secondly, in public health, out of 34 main informants, constituting 85%, have a positive attitude as it provides an additional option for healthcare. Thirdly, in the economic aspect, out of 40 main informants, constituting 100%, have a positive attitude as they believe cannabis can increase economic value. Conclusion: The results of the research can be summarized a total of 40 individuals interviewed had positive attitudes towards the three policies to liberalize the use of cannabis and hemp. Moreover, suggestions also include clarifying related laws, limiting recreational cannabis use, promoting proper usage and benefits, and implementing appropriate medical cannabis control systems by the Ministry of Public Health in line with Thailand's context. |
