| Abstract | Introduction: Tuberculosis, an infectious disease, leads to cause of death in many countries which has been an important public health problem. The previous data of pulmonary TB in Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital 2008 showed 63% success rate that was lower than WHO goal. Therefore, this study aims to fi nd factors associated with success rate of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment in order to improve the health system for increasing rate of successful TB treatment outcome. Methods: A prospective descriptive study conducted in patients who were registered and treated tuberculosis; TB at TB clinic during April 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013 at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital. Data of treatment outcome were collected from medical records, medication adherence and adverse drug reaction were collected from questionnaire by interview. Fisher's exact test was used in this study to fi nd a correlation of each factor. Results: There were 163 TB patients included in the study. There were 107 men (65.6%) and 56 women (34.4%) and the mean age was 33.95 ? 15.16. Most of them (158 patients; 97%) receive 2HRZE/4HR regimens. Adverse drug reactions was found in 73 patients (44.8 %). There were 27 drug related problems in 23 patients, medication adherence (65.6%) and success rate was 85%. Factors associated with success rate of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment as sex, race, smoking, drinking, positive HIV test, adverse drug reaction, medication adherence and drug related problem were not strongly protective against successful at TB treatment outcome in statistical signifi cant. Conclusions: pulmonary tuberculosis treatment success rate increased at TB clinic in Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital from 63% in 2008 to 85% in 2012. As a result, no such factors associated with success rate of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment in statistical signifi cant. |
