| Abstract | The present study aimed to assess the percentage of productive activities and efficiency index of pharmacists working in community hospitals, Srisaket Province. This prospective descriptive study was performed between October 2006 and March 2007. All pharmacists' activities in 30, 60, 90 and 120 bed hospitals were observed every 10 minutes using work sampling technique during office time and day for 1 month. There were 12,920 observations from 20 pharmacists. The productive activities, professional activities and clinical professional activities of community pharmacists were accounted for 66.35-74.59, 57.11-67.90 and 2.86-5.71%, respectively. The efficiency index of pharmacists ranged between 0.85 and 0.94. In conclusion, community pharmacist had high efficiency working. However, clinical professional activities were minimal. Therefore, pharmacist should realize to improve their work focusing on clinical based activities. |
