Abstract Chiang Mun temple is the first temple in Chiang Mai that have historical significance. It is a Buddhist tourist attraction in Chiang Mai. There are many Thai and foreign tourists who come to visit. This article describes the history of the importance of the ancient sites of Chiang Mun temple in contributing to the promotion of Buddhist tourism by studying the history of the importance of Chiang Man temple and the development of Chiang Man temple according to the Sappaya principle for promoting Buddhist tourism. The results of the study found that; (1) Phaya Mengrai offered his palace that he lived in as the first temple in Chiang Mai city named "Wat Chiang Mun". At present, there are important ancient sites and artifacts such as Chang Lom pagoda, Phra Setangkamanee, Phra Sila; Buddha image stone, and stone inscription of Chiang Mun temple that attract tourists to make pilgrimages. (2)Chiang Man temple has a temple development that is consistent with the Sappaya principle by adjusting the landscape of the temple to be shady, cool, not crowded, and providing travel facilities. There is an area for dharma discussion, exchanging knowledge between monks and people and tourists. There are shops around the food service center with quality service. In addition, the weather of Chiang Man temple is located in an area that is not sultry, suitable for tourists of all ages to visit. Including the landscape of the temple that is conducive to making merit, dharma conversation, and relaxation for tourists who come to make pilgrimages and study ancient sites and antiquities.Downloads
