| Abstract | The objectives of this research were 1) to develop the vowel reading skills in Thai of first-grade students through color-based reading practice activities and 2) to compare their vowel reading skills in Thai before and after participating in the color-based reading practice activities. The research population consisted of 180 first-grade students from Ban Si Yaek Somdet School during the first semester of the 2024 academic year. The sample group comprised 29 first-grade students from the same school, selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments included 1) six lesson plans based on color-based reading practice activities and 2) a pre-test and post-test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions on vowel reading skills in Thai. The statistical methods used were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings were as follows: 1) After participating in the color-based reading practice activities, the first-grade students showed an average score of 93.44, indicating significant improvement in their vowel reading skills. 2) A comparison of the students' vowel reading skills before and after the activities revealed a statistically significant improvement at the .05 level. |
