Abstract The objective of this research is to investigate the model of decision-making elements affecting succession selection in Thai family businesses. A Structural Equation Model (SEM) was developed using pertinent theories and studies. Examine and assess the causal relationship variables of Succession Plan, Recruitment Process, and Strategic Planning to see if they have direct or indirect effects on the Decision Making to Select Successor in a family firm. Three hundred units of analysis are picked from the family company. Multiple-stage population sample is comprised of current owners or CEOs from a proportion of six district districts in Thailand. A set of questionnaires is utilized for data collection. To evaluate the hypotheses, a structural equation modeling (SEM) study utilizing the AMOS 21 program is done. The most pertinent data reveal a positive and significant link between succession planning, strategic planning, and family culture in the selection of successors in family firms. Exception, the recruitment process has no direct, negative, or significant impact on the selection of a successor.
