Abstract This research explores the impact of schema activation on the reading comprehension of English poetry among undergraduate students in Myanmar Universities. The study investigates how activating students' prior knowledge and cultural schema enhances their understanding of poetic texts. Through a mixed-methods approach, the research examines the effectiveness of schema activation techniques in improving comprehension and engagement with poetry. The findings contribute to the pedagogical strategies for teaching literature in English as a foreign language, specifically within the unique cultural and educational landscape of Myanmar.
