| Abstract | This is a document-based research article aims to examine and compile the essence of case files of accusation and defense found in the ancient laws of Phitsanulok Province. The study utilized 46 ancient legal documents from the Office of Arts and Culture, Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University, which were transcribed by the researcher. The study results revealed 13 types of cases concerning mutual resolution based on the Lak Chai principle in the ancient laws of Phitsanulok : theft (19 cases), adultery (8 cases), disputes or brawls (9 cases), false statements (6 cases), assault (5 cases), security bonds or guarantees (4 cases), fraud (3 cases), property damage (2 cases), trespassing (3 cases), accidents (2 cases), loan agreements (2 cases), breach of contract (1 case), and gambling (1 case). The findings highlight the role of the Lak Chai principle in resolving disputes and provide valuable insights into the legal practices historically enforced in Phitsanulok Province based on original ancient legal documents. |
