Abstract In recent years, emerging lifestyle trends across Asia have reflected growing awareness among younger generations regarding aging prevention, personal wellness, preventive healthcare, and outdoor activities. Particularly in Thailand, young adults are increasingly adopting health-conscious lifestyles that incorporate jogging, cycling, fitness training, hiking, and other outdoor recreational activities into their daily routines. As a tropical country with high levels of year-round sunlight and UV exposure, Thailand presents a unique context in which sunscreen products have become a commonly used part of everyday skincare and health protection practices. At the same time, demographic transitions characterized by aging populations and declining birth rates have encouraged greater emphasis on long-term health protection, self-care, and active living. These trends have contributed to the growing relevance of consumer products that support wellness and personal appearance. Developing products for Asian and Oriental markets is particularly interesting because consumer preferences are often influenced by localized cultural values, environmental conditions, and lifestyle behaviors. Despite the importance of sunscreen products, inconsistent usage and improper application remain common among consumers. While previous studies have primarily focused on sunscreen formulation, effectiveness, and health awareness, limited research has examined how packaging design influences consumer perception and product usability. Therefore, this study investigates consumer perceptions of sunscreen packaging among Thai consumers, with particular attention to younger consumers and self-absorbed individuals who place significant importance on personal appearance, self-care, and product experience.A quantitative research approach was employed through the distribution of structured questionnaires to evaluate consumer preferences regarding key packaging attributes. The reliability of the collected data was assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha, while one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was conducted to examine differences in packaging preferences and usability perceptions across gender and age groups. Furthermore, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), particularly the House of Quality (HOQ), was utilized to translate customer requirements into prioritized technical design specifications. In addition, the RapidMiner application was incorporated as a supporting analytical tool to identify and prioritize significant factors derived from questionnaire data, thereby enhancing the efficiency of early-stage design decision-making. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more user-centered, culturally relevant, and functionally effective sunscreen packaging designs that align with the evolving lifestyles and preferences of contemporary Thai consumers.
