Abstract This independent study addresses the critically important and often complex strategic decision of warehouse location selection within the dynamic landscape of the logistics industry. Recognizing the multifaceted challenges and inherent uncertainties associated with identifying optimal sites, this research embarks on developing a decision-making framework. The core of this framework is the introduction of a Fuzzy-PROMETHEE model, specifically engineered to enhance the precision and reliability of location choices. By accurately integrating the principles of fuzzy set theory with the established methodologies of PROMETHEE (Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations), the model establishes a robust and comprehensive approach to multi-criteria decision analysis. This integration allows for a significantly more nuanced and encompassing assessment, capable of thoroughly evaluating both the readily quantifiable metrics and the more elusive, qualitative factors that invariably influence optimal warehouse placement. The model’s ability to process vague or imprecise information, characteristic of real-world business scenarios, positions it as a powerful tool for navigating strategic logistical challenges. To propose the Fuzzy-PROMETHEE model, a comprehensive and in-depth case study of an actual logistics company is meticulously presented. This practical application serves as a vital bridge between theoretical construct and real-world applicability, showcasing the model's capacity to translate complex analytical methodologies into actionable strategic insights. The study thoroughly delineates each sequential step involved in the model's implementation, starting from the meticulous identification of all relevant decision criteria, progressing through the intricate process of defining fuzzy linguistic terms to represent subjective preferences and uncertainties, and culminating in the sophisticated aggregation of preferences and the systematic ranking of various alternative warehouse locations. Through this rigorous, real-world application, the research emphatically underscores how the Fuzzy-PROMETHEE model effectively facilitates the seamless incorporation of invaluable expert judgments and often critical subjective preferences. This holistic integration ultimately leads to the formulation of decisions that are not only more analytically informed but also strategically sound, particularly within the often ambiguous and highly complex operational environments inherent to modern logistics. The findings unequivocally suggest that this model represents a significant advancement over conventional warehouse location selection techniques, particularly in scenarios where data completeness and precision are inherently limited, thereby offering a strategic advantage to companies striving for optimal supply chain efficiency and competitive positioning.
