Abstract In order to strengthen energy security while reducing environmental impact, particularly from global warming and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the government of Thailand has established a 20-year Energy Efficiency Development Plan (EEDP), aiming to reduce a 20 % share of final energy consumption by 2030. The energy saving potential assessment reveals that the forecasted energy saving by the residential sector holds more than 60 % of the overall electricity saving shares.
