Abstract Objective: To study the prevalence and associated factors of stress in third-year medical students, Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on third - year medical students in 2015 who agreed to participate in this study. Self-reported questionnaires consisted of general demographic data, self-assessment of stress by Suanprung stress test questionnaire and associated factors of stress. General demographic data, self-assessment of stress and associated factors of stress questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive statistics as frequency, percent and mean, the chi-squared test and t-test for inferential statistics to analyzed associated factors with stress. Results: The population included 69 participants; 38 (55.1%) were male and 31 (44.9%) were female from third-year medical students who registered in 2015. It was found that the prevalence of severe stress was 27.5%. The most related factors were ineffective time management, future profession, friend problems and studying problems. The studying problems and future profession had statistically correlation with the stress. Conclusion: Prevalence of severe stress in third-year of medical students at Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital was 27.5 percent. There are many factors, so we need to be concerned, give the advices and plan to prevent the stress early.
