| Abstract | A comparison study was designed to determine the effects of wound dressing with 0.9% normal saline and Hydrocolloid mesh with Silver sulfadiazine in skin tears. This quasi-experimental researchObjective: investigate and compare wound dressings with 0.9% normal saline or Hydrocolloid mesh with Silver sulfadiazine in Skin tearMethod: The sample consisted of 700 patients at men's medical service unit, Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University. The patients were divided into two groups: one group received conventional nursing care, whereas the experimental group received the Hydrocolloid mesh with Silver sulfadiazine on skin tears. The data collection was conducted from January 2014 - August 2015. The instrument used for data collection was a Questionnaire. Independent t-test was used for data analysis.Results:The study indicated that patients in the experimental group treated with hydrocolloid mesh with silver sulfadiazine showed significantly greater improvement in skin tears than those in the control group using wound dressings with 0.9% Saline (p<.05).Conclusion: The program should be used to set guidelines in skin tear care management for patients |
