| Abstract | Plant Germplasm Conservation project was conducted at Thailand Department of Agriculture between October 2006 and September 2010. This project focused on 8 activities as follows: survey, collection and preliminary study of horticultural crops including 1,403 accessions of economic fruit crops, 732 accessions of economic ornamental plants, 955 accessions of fruit crops, 795 accessions of ornamental plants, 385 accessions of industrial crops, 479 accessions of native vegetables and 1,133 accessions of herbal plants, characterization and evaluation of Horticultural crops by IPGRI descriptors, application of conservation technology in horticulture crops including seed genebank for papaya and herbal plants; tissue culture and cryopreservation for banana, rambutan, coconut, citrus, papaya, native orchids and herbal plants, and lastly collection and characterization of Kwao Kreur (red and black), Plu-Kao (red, green, purple and mottle leaf cultivars), Asiatic pennywort and herbal plants for other purposes such as medicinal, cosmetics and pesticides. |
