| Abstract | The field experiment of waxy corn was aimed to study the effect of various seed germinations on growth and yield and was conducted at the Department of Agricultural Science. Faculty of Science and Technology. Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University during October in 2005 to February in 2006. RCB was used as a design as with 4 replications and 3 treatments namly low seed. Medium and high germinations of waxy corn for planting. The results showed that the planting of high seed germination percentage produced the highest number of seedlings/rai, and was also found in terms of growth that the height measured at 3 weeks after planting, the teaseling stage and the harvesting stage were maximum. However, the high seed germination produced the earliest tasselling and silk date, and longest tasselling and silk duration. As for the yield, the planting of high seed germination produced the greatest of total fresh pod number as well as the highest weight before dehusk, weight after dehusk, and total husk weight. It also gave the greatest of large and medium ear number, and the ears with the greatest. In addition, the lowest number of small ears was obtained. In terms of ear width and number of seed row/ ear, the high seed germination did not show any results significantly different from the medium and low seed germination Therefore; new findings could support the planting of waxy corn from high percentage seed germination to produce the highest growth and yield |
