Abstract The objecteive of this research was to determine the optimum row spacing and number plants/hill on nutrition, yield and marketable quality of vegetable soybean production. the research was a 2x2 factorial in RCB, with 5 replications, conducted at CMFCRC from early rainy season to late rainy season in 2004-2005. Vegetable soybean cultivar namely AGS 292 was planted at spacing of 50x20 and 40x20 cm with 2 and 3 plants/hill. It was found that a spacing of 50x20 cm with 2 plants/hill (32,000 plants/rai) was adequate for maximum total sugar content as 1.7 % in early rainy season. With normal distribution, no response of vegetable soybean yield to spacing and number plants/hill occurred. Whereas, standard pdo/plant (241 pods) and node/plant increased and plant height decreased. Also, it gave large pod in terms of the lowest standard pod/kg with the highest pod length and thichness. Furthermore, the gross margin at 2,786 bath/rai that was gigher than another spacing. Spacing of 50x20 cm was also adequate for maximum carbohydrate 70.1 and 69.1 %, oil (7.3%) and total sugar content (3.4 and 2.3%) in late rainy season, Row and spacing affected standard yield. A spacing of 50x20 cm still showed tha maximum yield (604 and 552 kg/rai) with the highest node/plant, Moreover, it also showed the lowest standard pod/kg 9196 and 241 pods) and standard pod/plant. All spacing included number plants/hill were unlikely profitable in early rainy season.
