Abstract The study was conducted on sandy clay loam soil of course-loamy, mixed typic tropaqualfs, with 0.93% organic matter using a split-plot design witth 4 replications. the main plots were with and without Seesbania rostrata incorporation. The RD15 rice was grown after S. rostrata incorporation without fertilizer, and wheat was grown after rice with 4 levels of nitrogen (0, 6.4, 12.8, 19.2 kg.N/rai) as sub plot.rnThe incorporation of S. rostrata increased dry matter of RD15 rice upto 45 days after trasplanting and increased rice grain yield by 26%. The effect of S. rostrata incorporation was also evident on the succeeding wheat crop as root length density were increased in every level of nitrogen application especially in deeper soil layer, and wheat grain yield was also increased by 66 kg/rai over the non seesbania plot.
