| Abstract | Unfilled pod or empty pod formation in peanut is mainly caused by calcium (Ca) deficiency. This experiment was conducted to study the relationship between soil exchangeable Ca and unfilled pod formation in peanut. A pot experiment was carried out at Ubon Ratchathani field Crops Research Centre in 1997. Two seeds of peanut variety Tainan 9 were sown in each pot. The pots contained 26 soil samples with different Ca levels (59-230 ppm). The result suggested that unfilled pod percentage was significantly correlated with Ca content in the soil and was described by the equation : Unfilled pod (%) = 83.739 + 0.354 Ca - 0.003 Ca2 (R2 = 0.84**) |
